Typically, formal "sittings" are comprised of coming up with varied "poses" for the subjects to contrive, and this feels not only less natural to me, but it doesn't offer a natural representation of the subject(s). I thrive on coming up with original viewpoints while candidly capturing moments and personalities ~ blending-in, nearly unseen, as during a wedding, or during one of my candid sessions.
Most years, this family and I are able to beat the weather, and get outside for some more free-flowing activity. This year, due to timing, we squeezed-in a session amongst the glow of the family Christmas tree, inside the beautiful new addition to their home.

I love these kiddos & this fam, and though more "posed" than I'm used to, it was still enjoyable for me; Even when limited to a select few indoor spaces, this family always expresses their natural persona, and derives their own preferred "set-ups" - which I think adds to the natural flow of the sessions, and their individual personalities shining through. :) I Wonder which one they'll send out in their Christmas cards this year! I always look forward to seeing which one they choose. I really look forward to the annual photo opportunities with these wonderful people!! They are always so appreciative of my approach and my ability to readily portray the personalities of each family member! These are just a few of my faves from the shoot this season...
